Stranded in the South China Sea
You've all heard this one before. If you were stranded on a deserted island in the South China Sea and could only have one item, what would it be?
The Novice
The thought of bringing an electronic device will not even enter your mind. You'll immediately think of something "useful." Maybe you'll bring some type of toiletry such as soap or toiler paper. Who do you have to look good for anyway? It's a deserted island! After clearing your head you'll come up with the most logical answer. A boat.

You will realize that your PC is not an option. You may find yourself looking for the manual to your Palm VII to find out just how long that battery lasts. You'll accept the fact that you'll be disconnected from the "society" you've grown to love. When your withdrawals hit an all time high you may design a giant replica of your PCs desktop in the sand, Recycle Bin and all.

You are going to want to take your computer. Well, unless your PC is equipped with a cellular modem and CellOne is offering service in the South China Sea, you may have a problem. Besides, there's obviously no power supply on a deserted island so you're out of luck there too. Hey, maybe you could bring your laptop. That runs on a battery, right? Maybe you'll have enough time to watch Jurassic Park on DVD. Better yet, you could spend the time playing 3 hours of Quake III Arena, by yourself of course. Sorry, but your PC is gonna have to stay home for this one.
